You travel from the centre of Inverness by luxury mini-coach along the banks of the Caledonian Canal to the Bona Narrows. It was here in A.D.565 that St Columba is said to have come face to face with the Loch Ness Monster.

The canal expands to become Loch Ness as wonderful loch-side views open up before you. We join a cruiser at the Clansman Visitor Centre to take us for a 30-minute cruise on Loch Ness. Urquhart Castle sits on a rocky promontory at the deepest part of Loch Ness. This strategic location meant whoever held Urquhart Castle, controlled the Great Glen. Because of this, it changed hands on numerous occasions: the MacDonalds, the Grants and the English all held Urquhart at one time. The castle was deliberately blown up in 1691 and today the atmospheric ruins are yours to discover. Enjoy views over Urquhart Bay and learn more about the castle with its award-winning audio-visual presentation before boarding your coach once more to return to Inverness.
